This past week we read a story called A Surprise for Zig Bug. In this story, Zig and his friends are hot and have to find a way to cool off. Retell the story to your parents and then make a connection to the text here! Tell me how you cool off when you are hot! I cannot wait to read your posts! Make sure you use a lot of details
Last week we read the story titled The Bunnies and the Fox. this story was about two baby bunnies who wanted to play outside but their mom said they couldn't because they were not big enough to scare the fox. The baby bunnies made a plan and created a BIG snow bunny that scared the fox away so that they could play in the snow, but now I am wondering... do you think the fox will ever come back? Don't just say yes or no! You must explain your response!! Tell me why
This week we talked a lot about surprises! We read story about a boy named Bob who got a big SURPRISE! See if you can remember the events of the story and retell it! What was his big surprise? Then, make a connection to the story by sharing a time when you were surprised!
This week we read the story Pigs in a Rig. As we read this story we noticed that certain things happend to the pigs. This created a discussion on Cause and Effect. We noticed that the Sid (one of the characters in the story) fell out of the truck because the truck hit a bump in the road. The Cause was the truck hitting the bump and the Effect was Sid falling out and landing in the mud. Another example from the story was when all three pigs got dirty (muddy) they went to the wash. Because they went to the wash they became clean (effect). Also, because they were clean and shiny they won the blue ribbon at the fair (effect). We had a great discussion about Cause and Effect in class and even made some connections; such as: because I brush my teeth, my teeth are clean and because I get in bed I fall asleep. I would like to hear some more examples of Cause and Effect. See if you can make a connection with this story by sharing an experience that demonstrates Cause and Effect! I can't wait to read your posts!
Here your child will have an opportunity to respond to a story that we read in class. This is a great way to get your child thinking about text & building his/her comprehension! Please encourage them to take part in this activity!
