Think about the story Moving Day and the non-fiction text/article we read titled: Hermit Crabs. How is the article and the story Moving Day alike and how is it different? Make some good comparisons! I can't wait to read your posts!

The Hermit crab moved away from his old shell because it was small and old.He found many shells that were not good. Finally he found a perfect one and lived in it.

The hermit crab had to move shells because it was too small. He looked around until he found the perfect shell. It is like the story Moving Day because he looked around until he found a perfect house, just like the people in the story.

I am a first grade teacher and am searching the internet for an appropriate non-fiction passage about hermit crabs. I wanted to do a comparison like you or have my children respond to your blog. However, I can't find the non-fiction passage. And I don't see it on the sight. Would you please help me. Thank you.

We read about hermit crabs in our reading series. If you use the contact me link under the Homework tab and send me your email address I can scan the non-fiction article and send it to you.

Flip! Here your child will have an opportunity to respond to a question that connects to the learning happening in our classroom. This is a great way to get your child reflecting about their classroom experiences and sharing all the great things happening with you. It also helps me reflect too! Please encourage them to take part in this activity! They will earn a special treat when they do. Archives
