This week we read the folktale: The Fisherman and His Wife. In this story the wife asks for many things she wants, but doesn't necessarily need. Below is another version of this story; remember folktales are retold and sometimes change from one version to another. Watch the video if you need to; then think about the characters in this story. Describe BOTH the fistherman and his wife by sharing character traits that tell the kind of person they are. Why do the traits you chose best fit these two characters? Use SPECIFIC details/examples from the story in your answer. Remember to use complete sentences and that good responses typically have more than 3 sentences that support your ideas. I cannot wait to read your posts. |

In this story, the fisherman is scared, kind, and a good person. He is scared because the wife wanted more and more and became scarder and scarder. He is kind because even though it was the wrong thing to do, he did it anyway and been a nice person. The wife is greedy, selfish, and bad. She is greedy because she wanted more and more. She is selfish because she wanted more and more. And she is bad because she was being mean to the fisherman.

Flip! Here your child will have an opportunity to respond to a question that connects to the learning happening in our classroom. This is a great way to get your child reflecting about their classroom experiences and sharing all the great things happening with you. It also helps me reflect too! Please encourage them to take part in this activity! They will earn a special treat when they do. Archives
